The Black Parent Innovation Lab is an opportunity for Black parents to experiment, iterate and hone new strategies to help their communities thrive.

Design Fellowship

The Black Parent Innovation Lab is P4L’s flagship program. Each year Parenting for Liberation awards $5,000 in funding and wrap-around support for up to 10 Black Parents Fellows for testing their innovative ideas which aim to create solutions to problems impacting Black families.

Through intentional community building and hands-on design intensives, California-based Fellows embark on a 6-month journey anchored in liberatory design and healing justice that sparks innovation, radical abundance, joy and play rooted in the power and possibility of Blackness.

Culminating Celebration

Enjoy our closing 2023-2024 Cohort's culminating Celebration event highlighting our panel discussion and Fellows' projects.

I LOVED being in community with other Black parents, being playful and creative together, being dragged through my process and facing my fears of the unknown and doing ALLLLL of that on a foundation of love for Blackness and commitment to our healing and thriving into the future.

I loved all of the many ways that we could learn and participate throughout our weekend together and the valuable mentorship and guidance received the whole P4L facilitation team.
