Black Philanthropy Month

Black August is here!

A month marked by revolutionary spirit and struggle, we honor the legacy of Black freedom fighters and continue in our commitment to rest, resistance, and love for our people. August also happens to be Black Philanthropy Month. Both Black August and Black Philanthropy Month teach us about collective care and the importance of investing in our communities, learning from our past and resourcing the futures we deserve.

This year’s Black Philanthropy Month theme, Many Voices, One Movement, speaks to what we have always done at Parenting for Liberation which is to center the voices of Black Parents which are often silenced, overlooked or ignored.

This Black August and Black Philanthropy Month, we are asking you to do more than celebrate Black history and Black generosity. We are asking you to resource Black parent voice and leadership.

If you believe Black children deserve to be safe, free, and deeply loved, give.

If you believe healing is movement work, give.

If you believe Black parents are visionaries who deserve investment, give.

  • Make a one-time gift.

  • Become a monthly donor.

  • Give in honor of a Black parent, caregiver, or ancestor who carried love and resistance forward.

  • Ask your employer to match your contribution.

  • Support our work here: www.parentingforliberation.org/donate

When we invest in Black parents, we invest in the people already doing the sacred work of raising, protecting, imagining, and transforming. We invest in a future where Black children are not only surviving, but living fully, joyfully, and freely.
